AF Association is a UK registered charity which focuses on raising awareness of atrial fibrillation (AF) by providing information and support for patients and medical professionals involved in detecting, diagnosing and managing AF. AF is the most common arrhythmia (heart rhythm disorder), occurring when abnormal electrical impulses take place in the upper chambers of the heart resulting in an irregular pulse rhythm. It is estimated that 1.4 million people in the UK are affected by AF, with 500,000 more currently undiagnosed. People with AF are five times more likely to suffer an AF-related stroke which is more devastating, debilitating and disabling than any other type of stroke and are all too often fatal.
AF Association works closely with medical professionals, Department of Health, Government, NHS Trusts, strategic health authorities, patients, carers, patient support group members and allied groups.
Arrhythmia Alliance (A-A) is a coalition of charities, patient groups, patients, carers, medical groups and allied professionals who work together under the A-A umbrella to promote timely and effective diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias.

Heart Valve Voice is the UK’s dedicated heart valve disease charity. We work with patients and clinicians to help increase the awareness of heart valve disease in the UK and improve diagnosis and treatment. While there have been many advancements in the treatment of this disease the unfortunate fact is that far too many people are not being diagnosed and treated early enough. Our aim is to ensure that more of the population is aware of the importance of having your heart checked for heart valve disease, which can often be detected through a simple stethoscope check. With increased awareness we hope to see many more heart valve disease patients get the treatment they need to go on to live full and happy lives.
